Six Years to Become Highly Accomplished.
Joshua is my experimental research subject and my star student. I researched and studied teaching methods before he started lessons. He has worked with a few teachers and progressed to working with a master. Supplementing his master I have also taught him while I developed my methods. His progress has been swift and his feeling for music complete.
Joshua started playing piano almost 6 years ago. With my help he has developed an amazing ability in memorize sophisticated music efficiently. It took a very short time before he was able to memorize pieces and looked forward to playing at any opportunity (including public performances). Now, six years later, he kicks. He can learn a complex piece in a matter of a few months. He has a great memory for all the past pieces he's learned. Even if he's not played a piece in a long time he has developed the skills to take the sheet music and quickly refresh his capacity to play the piece from memory. When he plays people stop to listen.
You don't have to take a mom's word for it. Joshua won 2nd and 3rd in The CMTANC International Youth Music Competition in 2012 and 2013, respectively. He has continued to impress in competitions in 2014, 2015 and now in 2016. Here is a small sample of his playing.
